Beijing High-Level Conference on Climate Change: Technology Development and Technology Transfer

In order to promote international technology development and transfer, as well as the international negotiation process on climate change, the Chinese Government and the United Nations are jointly organizing the Beijing High-Level Conference on Climate Change: Technology Development and Technology Transfer, which will be held in Beijing, P. R. China on November 7-8 of 2008.

The Conference will focus on the following three areas:(i)status of technology, technology transfer, obstacles to technology transfer and best practices,(ii) mechanisms for overcoming barriers and obstacles to technology transfer, especially under UNFCCC, and (iii) the roles of public and private sectors and their potential collaboration for technology transfer.

In addition to Ministers and High-level representatives of Governments, senior business executives will be invited. Members of civil society, including nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and members of academic institutions will also be represented. High-level participation is also expected from relevant international organizations. Participation in the Conference is by invitation only. Invitations are issued jointly by the co-organizers.
